Terms & Conditions

These Terms & Conditions outline the policies and procedures for pets in the care of Derbyfield Kennel in Harwich, Cape Cod MA.

Check-In & Check-Out

  • Check-In Hours: Monday–Saturday, 8:00 AM–3:00 PM; Sunday, 9:00–11:00 AM.

  • Check-Out Hours: Monday–Saturday, 8:00 AM–5:00 PM; Sunday, 9:00–11:00 AM.

  • Boarding fees begin at the time of check-in, regardless of the hour.

  • Pets checked out by 11:00 AM will not be charged for that day.

  • If a pet is bathed or groomed on the day of pick-up, no boarding fee will apply for that day, regardless of the pick-up time.

Daily Care & Routine

  • Feeding begins at 7:30 AM following owner instructions.

  • Sleeping areas are sanitized daily.

  • Pets are provided with multiple outdoor play sessions, including afternoon playtime before the 3:00 PM feeding.

  • At 5:00 PM, all pets return to their sleeping areas with fresh water and a treat.

  • Music is played throughout the facility to create a calm environment.

  • Nightly bed checks with treats ensure every pet is comfortable.

Food, Toys & Bedding

  • Derbyfield Kennel provides Blue Seal Entrust dog food at no additional charge.

  • Owners may bring food if their pet requires a special diet.

  • Washable kennel bedding is provided; personal beds from home are not accepted for hygiene and safety reasons.

  • Owners may provide safe toys. Rawhide, rope toys, and greenies are not permitted due to choking hazards.

Medications & Special Care

  • Oral and topical medications are administered at no extra cost.

  • Injections cannot be administered.

  • Pets requiring specialized supervision or additional care are charged $55+/day depending on needs.

Health & Emergency Care

  • All pets must be up to date on vaccinations. Proof may be required.

  • In case of illness or emergency, pets will be taken to their veterinarian of record when possible.

  • If unavailable, pets will be transported to CARE (Cape Animal Referral and Emergency), located within one mile of the facility.

  • Owners authorize Derbyfield Kennel to obtain emergency medical care and agree to cover all related costs.

Cancellations & Reservations

  • A minimum of four (4) days’ notice is required for cancellations or changes.

  • Late cancellations or no-shows will be charged for the reserved dates.

  • A valid credit card is required for reservations during summer and holiday seasons.

Owner Responsibilities

  • Owners must provide accurate instructions for feeding, medication, and emergency contacts.

  • Rabbits, birds, and small pets must arrive with their own cages and food.

  • Derbyfield Kennel is not responsible for lost or damaged personal items, including toys, bowls, and leashes.

Liability

  • Derbyfield Kennel takes all reasonable measures to ensure the safety and comfort of pets.

  • All services are provided at the owner’s risk. We are not liable for injury, illness, or loss due to pre-existing conditions, age-related health issues, or unforeseen events.
